A few words at the end of Vassa.

Ajahn Kondañño The end of the successful Vassa and our stay in Śliwa is coming – time to pack our tents. We would like to express our gratitude: Anumodana to everyone who supported us by either helping us here on site or sending us their kindness and support from afar. Thanks to our collective effort and generosity of many of you, by living in harmony with intention to observe the precepts, we were able to meet together once again – […]

How to (un)learn yourself to meditate – the barefoot walk through Woźniki

During late September of 2024, I spent a week in Woźniki, where Ajahn Kondañño’s Vassa was taking place. It was a unique opportunity to discover the Buddha’s teachings directly from a monk – a living teacher. I generally knew what I should expect before I got there, as almost a year before it I participated at Winter Shelter in Czarków, also led by Bhante. But still – there was no shortage of surprises, stirrings and discoveries. Stays with Ajahn Kondañño […]

Photo recap

In the last few days we had a special visit from Hillside Hermitage, a place that inspires our thoughts on creating a forest hermitage in Poland. It was an invaluable opportunity for us to be in contact with Ajahn Ñāṇamoli’s teachings and to host for the first time (and we hope not the last) the Sangha from Slovenia. Ajahn was accompanied by Bhante Ñāṇadīpo, Sāmaṇera Nandako and Anagārikā Medhini. We are extremely grateful to Ajahn Ñāṇamoli and Ajahn Kondañño, as […]

During the Rain Retreat (Vassa), monks and nuns commit to staying in one place, often using the occasion to study the principles of monastic training. Vassa traditionally begins the day after Ashala Puja, the festival commemorating Buddha’s delivery of his first sermon, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, which set the Dhamma wheel in motion. […]

Bodhi tree in Poland? Why not!

It is with great joy that we announce the official launch of the BODHI TREE FOUNDATION in May 2024, whose main goal and mission is to create a hermitage for monks and nuns of the Buddhist Forest Tradition in Poland. Such formalization of our activities is a necessary step on the way to its establishment, but this is not the first step we have taken in this direction. We have been walking this path for a long time, although the […]
