Meet the Bodhi Tree Foundation
Hi! Welcome to the Bodhi Tree Foundation website. We’re glad you’re visiting us, and here’s a brief overview of what the Foundation does, how you can benefit from our work, and how you can support the activities we undertake.
The Bodhi Tree Foundation is made up of lay people inspired by the Buddha’s teachings under the leadership of a Sangha of monks ordained in the Thai Forest Tradition. The main big goal of our activities is to establish a Buddhist hermitage where monks and nuns will permanently reside and share their wisdom and knowledge with lay people gathered around the Sangha. Besides Ajahn Kondañño, the Foundation’s Programme Council includes Ajahn Ñāṇamoli Thero (Hillside Hermitage, Slovenia) and Ajahn Phāsuko (Samanadipa Monstery, Slovenia). It is these two places that are our inspiration for creating practice conditions in Poland for recluses leading a life, outside the mainstream Buddhist traditions. On Samanadipa’s website you will find more information about the monastery’s premises and how it functions.
We want the hermitage to become a unique place on the map of Poland – a place where people interested in the teachings of the Pali Canon can get support on the path. Ajahn Kondañño is a monk of Polish descent, so that the Dhamma will become available to us without the language barrier that is so often an obstacle to comprehending, receiving and developing wisdom and meditation practice.
In order for these goals to be realized, we need the support of all those who share our values. The project requires financial investment and without voluntary contributions from donors, it will not see the light of day. Every penny counts. Everything great is made up of thousands of tiny parts, so if you can add yours – don’t hesitate! By sharing what you can, you not only support a noble project, but also become a part of it, developing generosity (dana) which is one of the basic and rewarding Buddhist practices.
In pursuit of our mission to spread the consistent and clear teachings of early Buddhism, we will also translate and publish books on Buddhist topics, organize meetings of lay people with the Sangha, and support and integrate local groups and communities interested in the teachings of the Pali Canon. You can learn more about our objectives in the Bodhi Tree Foundation’s Statute.
