Our Foundation has been operating for more than half a year and we ourselves have no idea when that time has passed. On the other hand, when we look back at how much we have already been able to achieve in regard to spreading Buddhism, we can’t help but wonder how it could happen in such a short time… Today we are facing a certain challenge – we want our Foundation to fulfill its statutory goals and to consistently keep working on establishing the very first Buddhist hermitage in Poland for monks and nuns, but financial issues are limiting us.

How have we dealt with it so far?

Since the beginning, our Foundation has had a small, but very dedicated, group of donors who supported us in propagating the Buddha’s teachings in our country. From recurring donations we cover the monthly costs of the health insurance of Ajahn Kondañño (around $100) and the institution’s accounting expenses. We leave all other funds received for the purchase of property. Independently, we finance many other activities from our own family budgets. To date we paid for court and notary fees related to the establishment of the Foundation, created and maintain our website, designed and printed materials promoting our Foundation, organized Vassa of Ajahn Kondañño (with significant support of Theravada Foundation), visited many places with potential of starting a hermitage there, put together the “Lessons about Buddhism” course in polish language, covering the costs of the online streaming software ourselves.

All of those actions enrich our hearts and we are very glad that we have an opportunity to grow through the practice of generosity. At the same time, we know that without the involvement of more people, our capabilities will stay very limited.

Our contribution to the development of Buddhism in Poland – what do we need?

We are on the eve of accomplishing our most important mission – launching the first hermitage for monks and nuns in Poland. We’ve already found the property that can potentially become the appropriate place to live for Sangha and so it will also be an environment in which people interested in Buddhism could experience an authentic monastic culture and deepen their understanding of the teachings and practice. Let us not miss this opportunity! In order for this great project to see the light of day, we need your help – apart from the costs of the property, a lot of additional expenses will inevitably emerge and we won’t be able to cover it solely with our own earnings.
Therefore, we wholeheartedly ask for donations to the Foundation. Dāna is a basic Buddhist practice of great benefit. It’s not only a beautiful practice of supporting the ideas close to our hearts, but also a training in letting go and freeing ourselves from attachments.
